Crafting for Free? Empty
PostSubject: Crafting for Free?   Crafting for Free? Icon_minitimeThu Feb 28, 2008 12:18 pm

The Question:

Should members be required to craft items for other members for free?

The Details:

The person wanting the item would have to provide mats. This would NOT include cool-down crafting items, and the crafter would be able to work at his convenience.

The Reason:

Right now we are full of very helpful members. We would like new members to be just as helpful. This will aid us in the future.

Number of votes needed to pass:

51% of registered member votes = 19

PostSubject: impossible to enforce   Crafting for Free? Icon_minitimeThu Feb 28, 2008 4:11 pm

The reason I'm voting no is that I think it's impossible to enforce. I think it should be a "policy" not a "rule". If you make it a rule, then you potentially et in a situation where someone feels obligated to drop whever they are in the middle of doing to go help someone. We are not "requiring" anything else of our members (except to set a good example, right Lassy?)

This will be a policy, not a rule. And if you look carefully at the Details section, you will see that it is "at the crafter's convenience." No one would need to drop what they are doing.

This would be a great thing to have for the future. I know that we have a great, helpful guild now, but we won't know about anyone else we invite. Detrimental, this is a completely valid point. There is absolutely no reason for a guildie to charge another guildie to make something...especially if the other guildie is providing the mats. This is just being courteous. Also, it DOES say at the crafter's convenience. It doesn't say they have to drop everything. I wouldn't expect any guild member to abide by any rule that requires them to give up time that they have allocated for themselves to craft something for a guildie. I vote yes. This is a good rule and will help us establish guidelines just in case future members aren't as courteous as the members we have now are.
